Education

I graduated from Monmouth University in January 2016, with a Bachelor of Arts in English, a concentration in Creative Writing, and two minors: Psychology and Business Administration. My GPA was a 3.85, which is considered Summa Cum Laud Honors (highest honors).

Experience

Throughout both my high school and college career, I have attained tutoring and teaching skills, child learning experience, and editorial knowledge. I became a writing tutor for middle schoolers, high schoolers, and eventually, college students, both native speakers and English as a Second Language speakers, for approximately eight years. After being hired as a Writing Assistant at Monmouth University’s Writing Services, I became a certified tutor through the College Reading and Learning Association and began conducting both in-person and online tutoring sessions. In addition, I worked for a non-profit Catholic school, St. Veronica’s, as a CCD teacher for third and fourth graders, while also becoming a mentor to at-risk middle schoolers through Monmouth University’s Pen Pal Project. Most recently, I've become a para to students with emotional issues and psychiatric disorders. In turn, I have not only taught across diverse populations, but have become an avid believer in the importance of personally connecting to students. Having students return to me for sessions, being able to gain their trust, is one of the best feelings in the world; however, seeing them grow and become better writers, gaining confidence in themselves, is even more gratifying! Moreover, I have gained an abundance of experience in written and verbal communication over the years. I worked on the editorial team for both Communications High School’s and Monmouth University’s literary magazines. I also interned at Penguin Random House twice, in which I assisted various editors with both editorial and secretarial tasks. Through these experiences, I have become sufficiently organized, learned to work well with others, have successfully developed others’ writing skills, while also improving my own communications and writing talents, having been granted many awards and honors (i.e. Sigma Tau Delta, Middle States Writing Award, etc.). I have taken various English and writing classes, such as Shakespeare, Fiction Writing, Poetry Writing, Advanced Creative Writing, American Literature, British Literature, and Linguistics.

Hobbies

In my spare time, I write (I've been very much into poetry lately), go to parks (LOVE nature), dogsit (sometimes I like dogs more than people), attend concerts, and drink wine! I'm also currently trying to start a non-profit for abuse survivors, in which those who have been affected by any form of abuse can use art and writing therapy to try and heal. I have a blog called The Survival Memoirs, which is a basis for my non-profit. I care about everyone (it's a curse) and am always seeking to make the world a better place. That's why I love tutoring! If you think we're a match, get in touch!
